McKenzie Schessl is a lab manager in Plant Pathology at Cornell AgriTech, where she leads research initiatives focused on understanding and mitigating diseases that impact small fruit and tree fruit crops. Her principal research involves testing for pathogen-antimicrobial resistance and conducting pathogenicity assays to improve disease management strategies in strawberry and apple production. She is a mentor at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels. Extension efforts are focused on disease forecasting, biopesticide options, and UV-C potential.
