Since 2012, Brian Spencer has been the President/Owner of Applied Bio-nomics, a company that is a leader in the introduction and implementation of biological pest controls. The company’s products are used in North America and Europe on a variety of crops with a focus on ornamentals, because of their more stringent requirements of efficacy and prevention.
Spencer, who started with Applied Bio-nomics as CEO in 1991, has a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from the University of British Columbia. He is a board member of the Association of Natural Biocontrol Producers and is the Canadian industry representative for the North American Plant Protection Organization. He also is a professional winemaker, having served from 1978 to 1988 as the cellar master, senior winemaker, and winery manager at Peller Estates (formerly Andres Wines) in Ontario, Canada.
